About:
“Evening Wear” was recorded as a part of the Pink demos in 1997. This version has not been released. Due to overwhelming interest in the Pink demos, the band recorded an updated version of “Evening Wear” for If. It was released as a split single with “Mark David Chapman” in 2009 and peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Singles chart. Though remix stems were made available to remixers, no official remixes have been released. These stems were later leaked onto the internet.

Lyrics:
this is my vindication
with a little decoration
no need to keep you waiting
be intimidated
by what we have created
it’s underneath the radar
I got myself a fucking life dressed up in
evening wear
I dress myself in fucking lies
I don’t care
make up won’t help me much too much
it’s not fair
to be compared to you
to be compared to you you you hey hey
just call me Mr. Modest
I got it and I fault it
you can applaud if you wanna
cock-blocking non-stopping
when this ass is a rocking
do not come a knocking
I got myself a fucking life dressed up in
evening wear
I dress myself in fucking lies
I don’t care
make up won’t help me much too much
it’s not fair
to be compared to you
to be compared to you
to be compared to you you you hey hey
everybody wants to join the club
but once you join the club
the innocence is gone
everybody wants to be the bomb
but once you are the bomb
the innocence is gone
everybody wants a big ol’ slice of a big ol’ pie
and the innocence is gone
everybody wants it
everybody wants it
everybody wants it
I got myself a fucking life dressed up in
evening wear
I dress myself in fucking lies
I don’t care
make up won’t help me much too much
it’s not fair
I dress down until I disappear
but I won’t do it alone
no I won’t do it alone
no I won’t do it alone
you you you hey hey
