Check it out:
I'm a broadcast journalist in the U.S. Navy. My job is to cover and broadcastthe work from U.S. military bases in southern Europe. My command is American Forces Network South or AFN South. We're co-located with our detachment on a U.S. Army post in Vicenza, Italy called "Casmere Ederle."
Our other detachments who send us stories are:
Camp Darby, Livorno, Italy (An Army post near Pisa)
Naval Support Activity (NSA) Naples, Italy (Navy)
Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella, Sicily, Italy (a Navy base near Mt. Etna)
Naval Support Activity (NSA) Souda Bay, Crete, Gecce (Navy)
Naval Station Rota, Spain (Navy base in southern Spain, also my first command!)
We also cover to other bases here in southern Europe:
Morón Air Base, Spain (Air Force, north of Rota)
Aviano Air Base, Italy (Air Force, North of Vicenza)
Additionally, we provide coverage to U.S. Africa Commande (AFRICOM). AFRICOM does work in Africa (of course) to help stabalize that continent. From medical to vet work, to military training, to building schools, we're all over the place. This will be my MAIN job, getting into the field and bringing back "the goods."
Our official site is here:
http://www.afnsouth.net/ and our Facebook page is here (friend us, please!):
http://www.facebook.com/pages/AFN-South/96962556700Both sites will show you the video production and broadcast journalism I perform daily. The facebook page will show you the various persoanlities I work with and some "behind the scenes" stuff. My cohorts ar MSgt Chris Eder (Air Force), SSG James Allen (Army), CPL Joshua Blaog (Army), MC3 Jessica Robertson (Navy) and SPC Hugo Baray-Vasquez (Army). We also have a couple of civilians, Aaron Talley (prior Army) and Robert Sekula (prior Navy).
This is my work and for alsmost seven years, my life. Please take the time, guys. Add us and
see what the military does aside from what CNN, BBC, Fox News and the like tell you.
Very Respectfully,
MC2(SCW) Erick S. Holmes
